Marsh-McBirney to Receive Top Water Quality Award

Oct. 31, 2005

Marsh McBirney, Inc. will receive the prestigious Innovative Technology Award – Instrumentation Category from the Water Environment Federation. The award will be presented during ceremonies held Nov. 1 in Washington, D.C. at WEFTEC.05.
Marsh McBirney is being recognized for its product, the "Flo-Dar Flowmeter." The flowmeter was the first sewer flow monitoring technology that provided accurate measurements without making contact with sewage using Doppler Radar Technology.
The product reduces operational costs by eliminating expensive manpower and equipment requirements for cleaning sensors that are submerged into the sewer stream. No manhole entry is required, according to the manufacturer. To date, the flowmeter has been installed in more than 2,000 sewer flow monitoring applications for periods ranging from one to four years.
The award is presented to WEF Associate Members who have introduced new innovative products or services related to the construction, operation, or maintenance of water pollution control facilities.
