Leucadia, Calif. Recognizes Wastewater Roots

Aug. 11, 2003

The Leucadia Water District has officially changes its name to Leucadia Wastewater District to more accurately reflect their function, which is the collection, transport, treatment, disposal and recycling of wastewater.

Other than the name change, the District will continue to function as it has for almost a half century since its creation in 1959.

Leucadi Wastewater District is a local public agency that serves about 55,000 customers in a 15-sq mile area that includes La Costa, Leucadia and the Village Park area of Encinitas. The District also treats recycled wastewater to high levels of purity for reuse as irrigation water for large landscapes.
