New Licenses with Onondaga County Water Authority, Trinity River Authority, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Show Continued Momentum in Public Sector
Lawson Software signed three contracts with public utility customers in its first quarter of fiscal year 2003, which ended Aug. 31. Onondaga County Water Authority, Trinity River Authority and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District will use Lawson solutions to improve efficiency and accountability by automating business processes such as financials, procurement and human resources.
Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA), one of the largest public water suppliers in the United States, licensed Lawson Financials, Procurement and Human Resources. The software was sold as part of a multi-vendor solution. Lawson's business partners, Enterprise Solutions Group (ESG) and SCS Inc. sold the software to OCWA and will provide implementation services. ESG is authorized to sell Lawson's software solutions and provide implementation services through certified consultants, and SCS is a reseller of Lawson's technology solutions.
The software will help OCWA improve financial reporting, supplier/vendor relationships and employee satisfaction. The fully integrated multi-vendor solution also will help the utility organization improve customer billing and customer care. OCWA cited Lawson's depth and public sector functionality in its decision.
"We selected Lawson for our accounting software system after a lengthy review of the best-in-class software systems available to us," said Michael Hooker, executive director, Onondaga County Water Authority. "We are implementing new accounting, billing and work management software systems, and Lawson's software is a major component."
Trinity River Authority, an independent political subdivision of the State of Texas and the largest operator of regional wastewater treatment facilities in Texas, licensed Lawson Financials, Procurement and Human Resources, including Employee and Manager Self-Service, ProcessFlow Professional, Business Component Integrator and Design Studio. The authority will use the Lawson solutions to automate its human resources, financial and project management processes at 22 facilities and for more than 45 funds.
The added technology that Trinity River Authority purchased will provide greater customization and deeper functionality. Lawson Employee and Manager Self-Service will give managers and employees added control of their human resources information, letting the HR department focus on strategic activities. ProcessFlow Professional will provide pre-built workflow functionality that automates salary change processes, job requisition approvals and other personnel actions. Business Component Integrator will help connect Trinity River Authority's various systems. Design Studio, an integrated development environment with four design components, gives Trinity River Authority the tools to customize, extend and integrate their Lawson applications.
The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, a state-chartered government agency providing wastewater services for 28 municipalities, licensed Lawson Financials and Procurement. The district will use the solutions to streamline its purchasing processes and improve financial reporting and analysis capabilities. The integrated Financial and Procurement suites will automatically and instantly track purchases in a customized report, extracting more comprehensive data, simplifying the reporting process and supporting better business decisions. The district cited Lawson's strength and strong customer references with public sector and utility companies in its decision.
"These new competitive wins show our strength with public sector utility organizations," said Andrew Urban, market director, public sector, Lawson Software. "We recognize and understand the specific objectives of each organization, and where necessary, we work with our business partners to offer a customized solution."
