Suit against pharmaceutical company alleges wastewater violations

The Iowa attorney general’s office has filed a lawsuit against Sioux Pharm, Inc., of Sioux Center, Iowa, alleging it mishandled wastewater, the Associated Press (AP) reported. Sioux Pharm makes a nutritional supplement used to assist in cartilage regeneration and alleviate pain.

Alleged violations in the lawsuit, filed March 9, include discharging wastewater into a stream and well, not properly monitoring wastewater levels in a lagoon, applying wastewater to fields not approved for land application, and applying wastewater too near a creek, and failing to submit required reports to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, according to the AP.
