Hatch Mott MacDonald Named Engineer of Record for Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Facility Project

The Joint Venture Team of American Water and Pridesa America Corp. (AWP) has retained the consulting engineering firm of Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM), headquartered in Millburn, N.J., to assist them in the design-build modifications to the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Facility. In addition to undertaking the modifications to the existing Facility, AWP also has a long-term contract with Tampa Bay Water for the operation and maintenance of the 25 MGD Seawater Desalination Facility.

HMM will be the Engineer of Record on the project and will be working interactively with AWP to leading the design of the proposed modifications which will include new chemical feed and storage facilities, new pretreatment facilities, flocculation and sedimentation facilities, modifications to the existing sand filters, addition of a Precoat Filtration system, new wastewater treatment facilities and modifications to the high pressure pumps and product water pumps.

HMM will be responsible for all structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical and site-related design of the proposed modifications. HMM will be working closely with AWP throughout the construction phase of the project. The majority of the design work will be undertaken from HMM’s Millburn office, with architectural work being performed in HMM’s Pensacola, Fla. office.
