Itron Releases Corporate Sustainability Report

Itron Inc. announced the availability of its 2012 Corporate Sustainability Report (CSR). The report demonstrates Itron’s commitment to a sustainable future through its development of innovative solutions, corporate conservation initiatives and community giving programs.

From decreased water and energy consumption to increased recycling activities, the report highlights Itron’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and encourage good environmental stewardship at its locations around the globe. The report follows the internationally accepted Global Reporting Initiative guidelines for communicating environmental, economic and social indicators.

“Itron is committed to building a more resourceful world and ensuring the proper management of precious energy and water resources,” said Philip Mezey, Itron president and CEO. “We do it for one simple reason—resources are more precious than ever before. That’s why we strive to improve the way we manage resources and to help our customers do the same.”

This year’s CSR includes normalized metrics based on the number of meters produced and revenue generated compared to the energy, water and waste generated for all worldwide Itron manufacturing locations. This information is reflected and shows trends over the years 2008 through 2012.
