Mike Leech brings 15 years of experience to the role

Environmental Science Associates (ESA), an environmental consulting firm, announced that Mike Leech has joined the firm as director of geospatial services.

“Geospatial data and technology have become critical to how we approach, document, and communicate our projects. Having a strong leader who understands the tools and how to use them to improve our data collection, solve analytical challenges and share information companywide is imperative to our success,” said Margaret Clancy, ESA’s northwest regional director. “Mike has extensive experience partnering with clients such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Land Management and the city of Mukilteo to develop customized mobile and Web-based geospatial products to enable efficient long-term project planning and implementation.”

Leech brings 15 years of experience in technical project management, database development, and training for tribal governments, universities, and private consulting firms. Leech’s experience includes deploying field teams with GPS devices for data collection, mapping plant communities using object-based and pixel-based remote sensing tools and managing software development life cycles for international humanitarian organizations. He has also developed curricula for intensive hands-on courses for the Northwest Environmental Training Center in areas of GIS software applications, spatial database development and information management.
