GE Named 2010 WateReuse Equipment Manufacturer of the Year

Sept. 20, 2010
Award recognizes contributions to water reuse and desalination industry and technology

GE recently received the WateReuse Assn.’s 2010 WateReuse Equipment/Manufacturer Award in recognition of its commitment and contributions to the water reuse and desalination industry.

GE representatives accepted the award at a luncheon at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., during the association’s Annual WateReuse Symposium. The award acknowledges the outstanding commitment, performance and application by a specialty-equipment product or manufacturer.

"As a global leader in the areas of water reuse and desalination, GE is very deserving of this award. Technologies and tools from GE have helped many communities develop sustainable water supplies," said Wade Miller, executive director of the WateReuse Assn.

GE is a global supplier of water treatment, wastewater treatment and process systems solutions. The company provides technologies and solutions for water treatment and reuse and continues to invest heavily to enhance current products and to develop new, even more advanced technologies.

“Our mission is to provide the latest water reuse technology solutions to help our customers successfully tackle the critical issue of water scarcity, a growing global concern,” said Heiner Markhoff, president and CEO—water and process technologies for GE Power & Water. “We are very pleased to be honored by the WateReuse Assn., which shares our commitment to protecting and improving the world’s water supply.”

According to GE, its technology is designed to optimize total water/process system performance, safeguard customer assets from corrosion, fouling and scaling and protect the environment through water and energy conservation. GE also offers a diverse selection of technologies for the global water treatment industry ranging from desalination to cooling water solutions, mobile water to petrochemical solutions and water recovery to boiler water solutions.

GE also provides technologies and services for water reuse and desalination including filters and membranes and chemicals for seawater and brackish water, electrodialysis reversal technology for the recovery and reuse of saline water, reverse osmosis desalination systems, and build-own-operate service offerings.

In 2009, GE hosted a leadership summit on water reuse solutions called “From Used to Useful.” The summit brought together leaders from many groups including the water industry, government and academia to discuss the role of water reuse in securing a sustainable water supply for the future. Discussions centered on industrial and municipal water reclamation and reuse, as well as how technology, economics and policy are crucial to advancing water reuse initiatives.
