GE Industrial Systems, GE Water Technologies Receive Intel's Preferred Quality Supplier Award

March 22, 2002

GE Industrial Systems and GE Water Technologies, a GE Power Systems business, have received Intel Corp.'s 2001 Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award for outstanding performance in providing products and services deemed essential to Intel's success.

The two were recognized for their efforts in supplying Intel with electrical distribution and control equipment and ultra-pure water systems. General Electric and 24 additional PQS award winners were honored last week at a celebration in Burlingame, Calif.

"Once again, GE has consistently met our performance standards. GE Industrial Systems has earned the PQS award for the fifth time, and it is great to also recognize GE Water Technologies for its effort in attaining PQS status," said Tom Weise, director of Intel's Facilities, Materials and Services. "Both have been role models in e-business, cost, productivity and product management with breakthrough performance. Congratulations to GE."

"We are proud to receive these awards and pleased that an innovative company such as Intel has recognized our commitment to bring boundaryless solutions to our customers," said Lloyd Trotter, President and CEO of GE Industrial Systems.

GE Water Technologies President and CEO Claude Jordan commented, "The cornerstone of GE Water's relationship with Intel is our customer centricity and dedication to continuous improvement and quality. We are delighted to be acknowledged for these efforts."

The PQS awards are part of Intel's Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) process that encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score high on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, technology and responsiveness goals. Suppliers must also manage and deliver on a challenging improvement plan and a quality systems assessment.

Intel recognized PQS award winners with an advertisement in the U.S., European and Asian editions of the Wall Street Journal.
