Florida Water Services' Marco Island Wastewater Treatment Facility Wins Reuse Award

Florida Water Services' award-winning Marco Island Wastewater Treatment Facility has been selected by the Florida Water Environment Association (FWEA) for the 2002 David W. York Reuse Award. This is the second time that the 3.5 million-gallon-per day Marco Island Facility has been chosen for this prestigious award for commitment to, and accomplishments in, developing and maintaining exemplary reuse programs.

The FWEA established the York Award in 1992 to recognize outstanding water reuse projects in Florida. The FWEA Water Resource Committee selects the winners based on three criteria: environmental quality management, water reuse system and public education/information for existing customers. The award was presented at the 2002 Florida Water Resources Conference recently held in Orlando.
