Final Call for the 2007 Walter F. Snyder Award Nominations

Ann Arbor, Mich.—National Science Foundation International (NSF) and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) announced the final call for the 2007 Walter F. Snyder Award nominations. Given in honor of NSF's co-founder and first executive director, the annual award recognizes outstanding leadership in public health and environmental health protection.

The award will be presented during the 2007 NEHA annual educational conference and exhibition being held in Atlantic City, N.J. The conference will run from June 18 to June 21, 2007.

For over 30 years, this award has been presented in honor of Mr. Walter F. Snyder, a man who dedicated his life to environmental health. For ten years, he directed the environmental health program for the City of Toledo, Ohio. In 1944 he returned to Ann Arbor, where he established the National Sanitation Foundation (today known as NSF International) within the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. He served as director of NSF until 1965.

Nominees for the award are evaluated based on the following criteria: accomplishments achieved in the field of environmental health, contributions made to public health and the quality of life, proficiency in utilizing voluntary standards to reach environmental objectives and the ability to create environmental health solutions.
