Nicholas Santillo Jr., director of operations security, American Water, will participate at the 2014 TechSec Solutions Conference in Delray Beach, Fla., Jan. 28 to 29.
Santillo will take part in a panel discussion titled, "Security directors' perspective: Young security professionals' use of new technology on the job." In addition, Santillo will receive the "20 Under 40" Award, which recognizes the top 20 security professionals under 40 years of age who've displayed leadership qualities and promise for success.
Santillo has been with American Water for more than 10 years and has held various security positions with increasing responsibilities. He joined the company as a security coordinator and quickly became the manager of security and event management. In his current role, he provides oversight for all aspects of the operations security program in 32 states and oversees risk and security assessments for more than 3,000 assets nationwide. Prior to joining American Water, Santillo worked as a police dispatcher and 911 operator.
Santillo most recently obtained his third ASIS Board Certification, making him one of only 81 others to hold all three certifications. He is the current chairman of the National Asson. of Water Companies Safety & Security Committee and the 2nd vice chairman of the ASIS Utilities Security Council. He is certified in Incident Command System to the I-400 level and is a certified Level I-200 Instructor, as well as a Community Emergency Response Team instructor.
