American Water Engineer Presented with AWWA Award

Environmental engineer was honored for his research achievements

American Water announced that Dr. Orren Schneider, senior environmental engineer, has been honored with the 2012 New Jersey Section, American Water Works Assn. (NJAWWA) Research and Technology Transfer Award. This award is given to a section member for outstanding achievement in research and technology transfer.

Dr. Schneider joined American Water in 2005 and is currently involved with research leading to optimization of water treatment and distribution system operations. His primary areas of expertise include evaluation and design of advanced coagulation, clarification, filtration, disinfection and membrane technologies for water treatment. He has extensive experience with pilot plants that specialize in collection and analysis of data for scale-up to full-scale operations.

Dr. Schneider was chosen for his service to NJAWWA’s research committee, including being its recent chair, as well as his general research and technical transfer activities in New Jersey.  He has conducted many applied research studies and is well integrated with the research community having initiated and led research project and pursuits. He has been the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on approximately $2 million worth of funded research projects. Additionally, he has served on a variety of professional committees at the local and national level, including several for AWWA.
