Smart H2O Summit Announces New Innovation Culture Roundtable

July 21, 2015
The roundtable will explore how a heavily regulated industry can develop an innovation mindset among its workforce

Building an Innovation Culture in a Utility is the focus of an insightful new Industry Roundtable that will be offered at the Smart H2O Summit in San Francisco on Aug. 19, 2015. Sponsored by Isles Utilities, the roundtable will explore how a heavily regulated industry, often with limited access to funding, can develop an innovation mindset among its workforce.

The panel discussion will include experts from leading utilities, consultancies and financial organizations sharing their insights and solutions on the critical challenge facing all utilities. Led by Bill Kelly of Waterspout Consulting, the roundtable will provide practical examples of what can happen when creativity and innovation are unleashed.

“Fostering a culture of innovation is widely agreed to be an absolute imperative for the utility of the future,” said John Pearson, Smart H2O Summit Conference Chairman. “The myriad challenges of building tomorrow’s sustainable water network demand no less than revolutionary approaches to technology implementation and to business partnering.”

The lineup of panelists includes:

  • Howard Brewan, superintendent, Water Resources Recovery Facility, city of San Luis Obispo, Calif.:
  • Pete Schoemann, director of operations and maintenance and emergency preparedness, Contra Costa Water District;
  • Laura Shankar, principal, Artemis Water Strategy;
  • Nitin Goel, P.E., national disinfection technologist, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants;
  • Alexander von Welczeck, managing partner, Clean Power Capital; and
  • Bill Kelly (moderator), Waterspout Consulting.
