Earth Tech, a business unit of Tyco International Ltd. was selected by the Municipality of Jasper, Alberta to design, build and operate (DBO) the municipality's wastewater treatment facility. The 20-year concession period has a contract value of more than $11 million. Design has commenced on this fast-track schedule with construction slated to begin in May. The plant will be operational by the end of this year with full commissioning anticipated by the spring of 2003.
Earth Tech will replace the existing 30-year old four-cell wastewater lagoon with a more advanced biological nutrient removal (BNR) wastewater treatment plant system.
Earth Tech will also manage the operations of the facility including
-- Operations services: facility staffing and training, safety programs, start-up and commissioning of facilities and treatment processes.
-- Management services: financial and administrative reporting, discharge compliance, regulatory interface, quality assurance/quality control services, emergency response planning, accounting and human resource programs.

Jasper is a world-renowned tourist destination. It has a year-round population of 4,700 that increases to more than 20,000 during the summer months, and is located in the Canadian Rocky Mountain's Jasper National Park of Canada.
