Danfoss Receives Florida Governor's Business Ambassador Award

Feb. 17, 2016
Award recognizes efforts to create jobs, opportunities for Florida families

Danfoss, manufacturer of centrifugal compressors for high-efficiency air-conditioning chillers and other high-efficiency components and controls for air-conditioning, refrigeration, industrial and water systems, has received the Business Ambassador Award from Florida Governor Rick Scott.

The Governor’s Business Ambassador Award is presented to individuals and businesses in recognition of their efforts to create jobs and opportunities for Florida families. Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, which is based in Tallahassee, Fla., has been investing in the local economy since its manufacturing facility was built in 2011. Today, it employs nearly 200 people, and designs and manufactures approximately 10,000 compressors for air-conditioning chillers annually.

In December, Danfoss announced further investment in the region and broke ground on its new “Engineering Tomorrow Application Development Center”—a 22,000 sq ft laboratory for the testing of HVACR equipment and research and development center, which will expand the existing manufacturing facility in Tallahassee and is estimated to be operational in 2016. The center is expected to draw additional traffic into Tallahassee for collaboration and development of new energy-efficient technologies.

The Governor’s Business Ambassador Award was presented to Ricardo Schneider, President of Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, by Governor Scott on Jan. 29 during a board of directors meeting of Enterprise Florida, Inc., a public-private partnership between Florida’s business and government leaders and the principal economic development organization for the state.
