The new website will better assist municipalities, industries, minerals processing entities, engineers, contractors and maintenance personnel in selecting equipment and solutions for water and wastewater processing applications.

Tower Press Filter Enters Industrial, Minerals Markets

WesTech Eng. Inc. is introducing its Tower Press Filter to the industrial and minerals markets.

The WesTech Tower Press Filter delivers production performance and availability for maximum dewatering in a range of industrial and minerals applications, including fine iron ore concentrates, leach residues, metallurgical precipitates and more. Other benefits include low maintenance and operational costs, as well as fully automatic operation.

WesTech Appoints New President & CEO

WesTech Eng.’s board of directors has appointed Rex Plaizier as the company’s new president and CEO. The move was effective Sept. 1, 2013.

Plaizier has a 27-year career with WesTech and has served as the company’s president for five years. He holds Master’s degrees in mining engineering and business administration.

WesTech Recognized as Supplier of the Year

WesTech Eng. has been selected as the 2013 Supplier of the Year by Vale S.A. This prestigious award was received and accepted through WesTech’s Brazilian office, WesTech Equipamentos Industriais LTDA.

WesTech Appoints International Business Unit Leader

WesTech Eng. Inc. has appointed Philip Lake as the new leader of its International Business Unit. Lake has been in the sedimentation equipment industry for 19 years, during which he has spent time with Wren, Eimco Process Equipment, and PasteThick Associates. Lake now oversees WesTech’s expansion efforts across the globe.

WesTech Appoints Municipal Water Unit Leader

WesTech Eng. Inc. has appointed Les Uhlmeyer as the leader of its new Municipal Water Treatment Business Unit overseeing the Microfloc and General Filter product lines. Uhlmeyer has more than 30 years of experience in the water treatment industry, spending 22 of those years in leadership positions with Microfloc and General Filter prior to the product lines being acquired by WesTech.

“The General Filter and Microfloc product lines have always enjoyed tremendous customer loyalty,” said Uhlmeyer. “We look forward to enhancing our customer trust and loyalty under WesTech ownership.”

WesTech Relaunching Microfloc, General Filter Brands

WesTech Eng. Inc. is reintroducing the Microfloc and General Filter brands to the municipal water treatment market.

WesTech to Supply the Largest Compressible Media Filter in the World

WesTech Eng. Inc., through its subsidiary WWETCO, was selected by Black & Veatch and the City of Springfield, Ohio, to design and manufacture the largest compressible media filter in the world. Installation of 100 million gal per day WWETCO FlexFilter will begin at the Springfield Wastewater Treatment Plant in Springfield, Ohio, in 2013.

Clarifier Design Increases Treatment Capacity at Miami WWTP

WesTech Eng. Inc., of Salt Lake City, has helped to increase the treatment capacity at the Miami Dade South District Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) by 60 million gal per day (mgd). WesTech has supplied four new 195-foot diameter clarifiers and retrofitted six additional 195-foot diameter clarifiers with the proprietary Clarifier Optimization Package (COPTM) design. All 10 clarifiers are now installed and online.

WesTech Acquires Microfloc, General Filter from Siemens

WesTech Eng. Inc. announced it has signed an agreement with Siemens Industry Inc. to purchase the conventional water treatment business that includes the Microfloc and General Filter product portfolios.

Biological Nutrient Removal Restores River Habitat on Long Island

WesTech Eng. Inc. of Salt Lake City is helping to restore the river habitat of the Patchogue River and the Great South Bay by employing technologies for the removal of nutrients being discharged by the Patchogue Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located on the southern shore of Long Island in New York. As a part of this expansion and upgrade, WesTech supplied two STM-Aerotor Biological Nutrient Removal Systems and two 55-ft-diameter secondary clarifiers featuring the proprietary Clarifier Optimization Package (COP) design.

New Installation Reduces Turbidity and Total Organic Carbon in Alabama

Built in response to growing populations in and around Henager, the new plant has reduced turbidity and total organic carbon (TOC), increased water quality and simplified operations and maintenance.

Filter Diminishes Phosphorus in Nashua River

WesTech Engineering Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah, has successfully utilized the SuperDiscTM Disc Filter in a pilot study to treat the effluent water from the Clinton Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to less than 0.1 mg/L of total phosphorous (TP).

Lamar, Mo., Selects Compressible Media Filter for Wastewater System Improvements

WWETCO LLC of Canton, Ga., is commissioning their recently installed FlexFilterTM system for the current wastewater system improvements for the city of Lamar, Mo. This compressible media filter has been installed following a lagoon treatment process and is being used for the removal of algae prior to additional treatment in a subsequent nitrification process.

Biological Treatment System Helps Philippines Plant Meet Regulations

Quezon City in the Philippines has installed an STM-Aerotor Biological Treatment System from WesTech Eng. in the Baesa District, which serves 2,000 residents.

Only a fraction of the wastewater in and around Manila, the country's largest city, is treated today, and the government is now taking a more active role in the enforcement of the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004.

Milestones and goals are being mandated by the government for the treatment of the wastewater generated by roughly 13 million residents, representing a tremendous need for simple and cost-effective systems.

Product available through WesTech starting this monthWesTech Engineering Inc. of Salt Lake City expanded its partnership with Nordic Water Products AB to bring the ZICKERT clarification system to North America. These products are available through WesTech as of March 1.

According to WesTech, with more than 3,000 installations worldwide, the ZICKERT clarification system provides a comprehensive solution to the problems of liquid/solids separation and is ideal for retrofitting existing tanks containing chain and flight clarifier systems.

WesTech Acquires WWETCO to Provide New Filtration Technology

WWETCO line includes products for CSO and compressed media filtrationWesTech Engineering Inc. of Salt Lake City acquired WWETCO LLC of Atlanta. The acquisition became effective Dec. 28, 2010.

WWETCO has developed products for combined sewer overflow and has engineered new and innovative ways to utilize compressed media filtration for both primary and tertiary treatment. WesTech hopes that the acquisition of WWETCO will create a partnership that will help to better advance these technologies.
