The City of Pontiac removed its boil water alert for residents and businesses on Tuesday after Oakland County officials approved the water samples for consumption.
City officials had extended the alert for one more day to get separate test results from water samples. According to DPW & U Director Claudia Filler, samples were taken to ensure no contaminates entered the water system by way of ground water used to offset the water pressure. The well water was used to keep up the pressure and for cases of emergency such as firefighting.
The advisory extension was to make certain public health wasn't compromised. The city keeps 12.5 million gallons of water in storage from the City of Detroit. The Detroit Water Department gave the "all-clear" yesterday for all cities that were under the boil water advisory.
