City of Auburn Receives California Water Environment Assn. Awards

City wins for innovative water management in facilities run by CH2M group

With municipal water quality at the forefront of national attention, a CH2M client community has demonstrated the value of high-quality utility operations. The city of Auburn, Calif., was selected to receive two awards from the California Water Environment Assn. (CWEA). The team received the Sacramento Area Section award for the 2015 Small Collection System of the Year as well as the 2015 Small Plant of the Year Award.

“The awards are a testament to the hard work CH2M and the city of Auburn put in every day at the facilities. Our goal is to serve the 12,000 Auburn residents, while exceeding industry, environmental and regulatory standards,” said project manager Gregory Wiltfong.

This is the fourth straight year the team has won the Small Plant of the Year Award and the seventh time since the plant began operations.

CH2M serves a population of 12,000 in Auburn by providing full contract operations for the City’s 1.67 million gpd extended air/tertiary treatment wastewater treatment plant, an 80-mile collection system and 10 lift stations. CH2M has worked with the City of Auburn since 1993.

The CWEA is a not-for-profit public benefit association of 9,300+ water quality professionals who work for public agencies and collection systems, engineering firms and equipment and service suppliers. CWEA members are responsible for cleaning California’s water and returning it safely to the environment.

The CH2M Operations Management Services group performs full-service operations, maintenance and technical services for public agencies and private enterprise in multiple fields including water, manufacturing and energy.
