Erin Brockovich, the legal aide who went to battle against a California utility company, Pacific Gas & Electric, continues her crusade against chromium 6.
Brockovich, becoming well-known after the release of the movie Erin Brockovich starring Julia Roberts, urged the City Council to back a state bill, requiring stricter testing for chromium 6, a carcinogen.
Council members agreed to urge Gov. Gray Davis to sign state legislation allowing health experts to determine appropriate levels.
The lawsuit against Pacific Gas & Electric won $333 million for the 650 residents of Hinkley, making the utility respnosible for the town's chromium 6-contaminated water.
