A meeting has been arranged between a Caribbean water authority and a local broiler company to discuss poultry wastewater. The meeting came about after the water authority threatened to take legal action.
The Water Commission has told the Caribbean Broilers that they must implement measures to prevent its waste from clogging the drainage system by Nov. 30, or they will face legal action.
Caribbean Broilers has been accused of discharging its waste into the NWC's system, resulting in blocked sewers.
Corporate Affairs Manager at Caribbean Broilers Dr. Keith Amiel told WorldPoultry.net, that the group is aware of the problem, but believes part of the issue stems from the fact that the sewage system needs improvement.
In the meantime, Amiel reported that the group will do all that it can improve how it discharges waste.
