California City Selects Sludge Treatment Equipment

Oct. 14, 2015

The city of Riverside, Calif., recently selected Huber Technology Inc. to provide sludge dewatering and membrane bioreactor (MBR) protection equipment for a series of upgrades to its facility.

Huber was first selected to provide the Rotamat perforated plate screen (RPPS) fine screen for MBR protection as a part of its $200 million MBR upgrade project. In a separate purchase, the company was also selected to provide sludge dewatering equipment as part of a separate project to upgrade their sludge treatment system.

Prior to this purchase, the facility used a belt filter press and centrifuge for sludge dewatering and the decision was made to upgrade the equipment to increase efficiency and lower maintenance requirements. The purchase consisted of six Ros 3 Q 800 models, one of the company's sludge dewatering products designed to reduce sludge volume while maintaining a high level of energy efficiency.

The RPPS unit was started in June 2015 and the sludge dewatering components will be installed in spring 2016.
