Beijing Injects 36.2 Billion-yuan for 60 Major Construction Projects in 2002

This year will see Beijing make an investment of RMB 36.2 billion-yuan for the construction of 60 key projects with the major part dedicated to the projects of urban transportation and environmental treatment. The projects consist of 12 items for transportation and 15 for environmental treatment and with an investment of RMB 2 billion-yuan to start the Olympic Park project.  

The gross investment for the 60 key projects totals a lump-sum of RMB 139.2 billion-yuan, of which the investment this year comes to RMB 36.2 billion-yuan. As for the environmental treatment, Beijing will invest RMB 20.4 billion-yuan for 15 projects that are detailed as follows: Qinghe Sewage Treatment Plant, Qinghe Sewage Damming Project, Liangshuihe Sewage Damming Project, Wujiacun Sewage Treatment Plant & associated pipeline project, Xiaohongmen Sewage Treatment and associated pipeline project, project for natural gas from Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia to enter into urban areas of Beijing, dredging and treatment of Macao River, overall project for the treatment of Zhuan River as well as the project for damming the sewage water of the Wenyu River, etc.

 The 12 large and symbolic construction projects include the Olympic Park of an investment of RMB 2 billion-yuan, the new Capital Library with an investment of RMB 1.2 billion-yuan and the Central Business District of Beijing covering a total floor space of 1.18 million square meters as well as the projects launched recently. They are the out-patient building of Beijing Children's Hospital, School Campus of Beijing Changgeng Medical College and the first phase project of Beijing TV Center as well as China Film Museum and so on.
