Basin Water to Buy Two Companies

May 17, 2007

Basin Water Inc., a maker of groundwater treatment systems, signed a deal to buy a majority stake in two water-transport companies to meet future consumer demand. Basin Water is acquiring West Riverside Canal Co. the owner of a 121-year-old, 18-mile canal that stretches over several of the largest ground basins in southern California. The company is also buying The 350 Inch Water Co., which operates two wells and a pipeline.

Federal, state and local officials recently gathered as Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. accepted the 2006 Award for Sustainable Public Health Protection from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The award recognizes Aqua's efficient use of federal funding to rebuild the Bristol Water Treatment Plant, which supplies drinking water to approximately 30,000 local residents.
