AWWA Showcase, Tank Case Studies Featured in WWD's May Issue

June 20, 2003

Respected for more than 40 years as the product news source of the water/wastewater field, Water & Wastes Digest has once again provided a wealth of information in its May 2003 issue, mailed last month to nearly 100,000 subscribers.

The May 2003 issue of Water & Wastes Digest features a special AWWA Showcase, including a complete listing of exhibitors and booth numbers, as well as a section presenting dozens of products on display at this year’s exhibit hall – everything from high-tech electronic devices to older, time-proven industry standards.

Some of these products are tank related, as are those described in more detail in the May issue's Products In Action section. Included in these case studies are equalization basins for a county’s SSO program, chemical tank cleaning for a town’s storage facilities, and high performance coatings to protect surfaces in a new $26 million treatment plant in Iowa.

The Editorial Emphasis topic for the May issue is water treatment, and "Water Treatment: Thinking Small" describes how a California facility – the nation’s largest ultrafiltration water treatment plant – found static mixers a small yet integral part of the overall system design.

Last but not least, the High-tech Focus on sampling and analyzing covers "The Nuts and Bolts of Chemical Oxygen Demand." This article explains why many wastewater treatment facilities use a faster Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) test to estimate BOD levels – eliminating the need for the usual five-day waiting period.

A recent reader survey revealed that readers look forward to each issue's case studies (appearing in both the Products In Action and the Problem Solvers sections of WWD) as an interesting way to learn how others in their industry have tackled tough situtions and come out on top. An even wider selection of Problem Solvers can be found at www.WaterInfoCenter.com.
