AWWA Launches New Program for Students

Nov. 6, 2012
Student Experience program launched Nov. 5, 2012 at the Water Quality & Technology Conference in Toronto

The American Water Works Assn. (AWWA) has announced the launch of its new Student Experience program.  The program officially launched Nov. 5, 2012 during the Assn.’s 2012 Water Quality and Technology Conference in Toronto, Ontario. Students throughout the conference wore “I am the future of water” T-shirts to celebrate the launch.

The Student Experience program will highlight the opportunities AWWA makes available to students in three key areas:

  • enhancing their resumes with scholarship, presentation, publication, competition and award opportunities;
  • finding jobs in the water sector with the help of the AWWA Career Center, the annual career fair and educational and networking opportunities; and
  • growing their professional networks through AWWA events and conferences, with training specifically geared toward young professionals and opportunities to lead volunteer groups.

“We are thrilled to launch the Student Experience program. AWWA has so many opportunities for students, but it’s always been a bit dispersed until now. This program makes it easy for them to find all the resources they need in one spot,” says Nancy Sullivan, the program manager for AWWA.

Additional information about the Student Experience program is available in the AWWA Student Center section of the AWWA website.
