Award-Winning Rockdale County Switches to MWH Soft

June 7, 2006

MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, announced that Rockdale County, Ga., has selected MWH Soft H2OMAP Water Suite software to supplant its existing network modeling solution. The county will leverage the suite’s powers to meet the demanding schedule for the development of its full-scale water distribution hydraulic model for regulatory compliance. The move is yet another indication of MWH Soft’s market-leading momentum in advanced geospatial infrastructure modeling solutions in North America.

Winner of two Gold Awards from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for outstanding utility operations, Rockdale County provides quality drinking water to a population of 74,000 via 597 miles of water mains. H2OMAP will replace the County’s existing modeling system with a comprehensive, easy-to-use geospatial solution for developing a detailed, comprehensive and well-calibrated dynamic model of the County’s drinking water infrastructure.

This model will be used to quickly and easily identify compliance monitoring sites, a critical capability in complying with Initial Distribution System Evaluation (IDSE) requirements under the USEPA Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (Stage 2 DBPR). IDSE is the methodology used to establish key monitoring locations that best reflect representative high Total Trihalomethane (TTHM) and Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) concentration levels in a water distribution system.

“We’ve standardized on H2OMAP Water because of its intuitive, user-friendly GIS interface; minimal training requirements; comprehensive hydraulic and water quality modeling capabilities; and enhanced database management and optimization functionality,” said Pavel Vayner, P.E., principal engineer for Rockdale County. “All of these advantages will help us meet the new challenges of the Stage 2 DBPR and optimize capital planning and system performance. The software’s proven track record of fast, successful implementation and the company’s outstanding reputation for exceptional technical support and customer care adds to the software’s value.”
