35 participants from industry, academia, research and policy organizations and federal and state governments to discuss energy-water nexus

American Water, a large publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced that Aldie Warnock, senior vice president of external affairs, communications and public policy, will participate in the National Governor’s Assn. (NGA) Experts' Roundtable on Advancing the Energy-Water Nexus in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 25.

Warnock will join 35 participants from industry, academia, research and policy organizations and federal and state governments to provide NGA Center staff with insights into the Energy-Water Nexus. The meeting will involve a discussion of state policies and programs and the role governors can play in advancing efforts, including through improved coordination across multiple jurisdictions. The workshop will seek input on the following four policy areas:

  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
  • Energy Efficiency Policies and Programs that Target Water Conservation
  • Water Conservation Policies and Programs that Target Energy Efficiency
  • Unique Opportunities for Governors To Break Silos

The NGA Center for Best Practices is hosting this experts’ roundtable to help identify ways that governors might help support the simultaneous conservation of energy and water resources and coordinate their efforts across jurisdictions. Those opportunities will be captured in a subsequent NGA Center issue brief focused on improving the energy-water nexus and featured in a future webinar.
