American Water, Denver Water Host Celebration for Tap-Water Giveaway

Water officials urge public to fill up on tap water

On the second day of Drinking Water Week 2011, the American Water Works Assn. and Denver Water partnered Tuesday to “celebrate the essential” by giving away hundreds of refillable bottles of tap water in downtown Denver.

Denver Water supplied a trailer full of cold tap water with an invitation to “fill it at the tap,” while volunteers passed out hundreds of 16-oz water bottles that included the following top reasons to fill up on tap water:

  • Free refills at participating faucets
  • For the budget conscious, tap water is the “fiscally responsible” beverage
  • The clear choice of fire fighters
  • That’s right, it’s tap water coming out of your corner fire hydrant
  • No carbs: Go ahead and supersize it
  • Drinking refreshing tap water every day keeps you healthy and hydrated
  • Undergoes more testing than professional athletes
  • No water is held to a higher standard
