Wastewater Systems - Pipes and Piping / Section 9
In about 1965, a specially designed plastic pipe, termed truss pipe, was introduced in sizes of 8-, 10-, 12-, and 15-inch diameters. In 1967, a British manufacturer announced the production of extruded polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC) in diameters up to 16 inches, with the future possibility of producing up to 30-inch pipe. These developments undoubtedly will lead to the wider use of plastic pipe for sewers.
