    Membrane Week 2008

       Terms & Conditions of Use

AMTA/SEDA Joint Conference & Exposition focuses on membranes

    - By Water & Waste Digest

The American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) and their affiliate, the Southeast Desalting Association (SEDA), are organizing and conducting Membrane Week, the AMTA/SEDA 2008 Joint Conference & Exposition. The event will be held July 14 to 17 at the Naples Grande Resort & Club in Naples, Fla.

The conference will be beneficial to people with all levels of knowledge or interest in membranes. Current membrane engineers or users should not miss the opportunity to learn the latest techniques and keep up with state-of-the-art technologies while also fulfilling their licensing requirements. This conference has approval from Florida and several other states for CEU credit.

Almost 90 exhibitors—global leaders in membrane and desalination with varying roles in the industry, including engineers, organization leaders and manufacturers of various products, systems and components—along with planners, regulators, engineers, manufacturers and operators will gather under one roof.

Key membrane topics will be discussed at the event, including membrane bioreactors, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, brackish water reverse osmosis, seawater reverse osmosis desalination, electrodialysis reversal and more.

    Educational Opportunities

The conference will commence on Monday, July 14, with two preconference workshops sponsored by the National Water Research Institute and the Affordable Desalination Collaboration. Throughout the next three days, there will be over 80 presentations in concurrent sessions, followed by committee and board meetings. These sessions are filled with practical and pertinent information about various membrane technologies, including sessions that focus on just the basics for novices. More than 20 presentations will cover various components used in membrane plants, such as pumps, energy recovery systems, controls, pretreatment and post-treatment. Several sessions are also dedicated to planning, permitting, procurement and financing membrane plants. There are also sessions that are geared directly torward membrane plant operators and supervisors.

Two membrane facility tours are planned as a part of the conference, providing the chance to get an up-close view of two large and very impressive membrane plants. This will also provide an opportunity to get some hands-on training and ask questions of those who already have experience with membrane technology implementation. Put their knowledge and experience to work for you.

Registration forms are available at the AMTA website, www.amtaorg.com.
